Averham, Kelham and Staythorpe WI (AKSWI) were formed by a group of rural ladies in 1958. The three villages sit alongside the River Trent and were predominantly agricultural although there have been three electricity power stations at Staythorpe over the past 50 years. Today we draw our members not only from the original villages but also welcome a number of ladies from further afield. Our members have a wide number of interests and a broad age range. We are friendly and welcoming with a lively outlook with a positive attitude to trying new things .
We meet at The Robin Hood Theatre , Averham, Newark on the second Monday of the month 7.15pm
The WI plays a unique role in providing women with the chance to build new skills, meet new people and take part in a wide variety of activities that matter to them and our communities.
The Little Nippers serve desserts at the Queens Diamond Jubilee in 2012. This is our take on the Lyons Tea rooms.
